Joey.

Today I adopted Joey, a three-year-old Australian Cattle Dog. Joey was a stray and on 9/11/07 he was brought into the equivalent of Denver's Dumb Friend's League, Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The volunteers at PAWS were terrific and I think they were nearly as excited as I was that Joey was coming home with me. He made some human friends at the shelter. While my first summer in Seattle has been wonderful and I've met some great new pals, I have been a bit lonely. I had dog envy. I needed a cuddle buddy. Joey has already captured my heart.

OK, and about the blog. This time I promise I will get back into the groove with more frequent updates and pictures.

Across The Universe.

I'm never a big fan of cover artists-- those who sing the music of other artists. Especially when the other artist is The Beatles. Across The Universe breaks that rule and at the same time it warms my heart. I know, I know, it's a 2.5 hour-long music video. It has very little plot. It is at parts historically incorrect and maybe makes significant events that were not that big a deal, and vice versa. It stretches way too much on characters from music of The Beatles, as the main characters are Prudence, Jude, JoJo, Lucy, Max, and Sadie. It is gorgeous and super creative. It is joyful to watch. It kept my attention and made me smile and cry, not once, but twice this weekend. And these folks are pretty vocally talented. That is until the ever-amazing Bono opens his mouth and puts the cast to shame. Does this man ever do anything just mediocre? See this movie. And buy the CD from Best Buy as they offer the "CD exclusive" COMPLETE soundtrack. You can also download the complete soundtrack on iTunes.
